This body of work aims to bring the viewer closer to the subject matter through framing, color and layered texture. Much of my work speaks to the normalization of body hair on the feminine form. While past work might have addressed the stigma behind being visibly hair, Body on Frame seeks to emphasize hair as embellishment. I use a blend of media to create a sense of adornment: oil paint, handmade paper and repurposed prints. Color plays a huge role in the work, usually in monochromatic or analogous palettes that create harmony. The various compositions of bodies emphasize the aesthetic appeal of the figure itself through abstraction. The presence of hair is simply an added textural element as opposed to something we must question.












Seated is a series that borrows from various chair designs by White designers. Women of color are portrayed as seated within these designs, a narrative that they are often not a part of.
